The beneficial effects of salt lamps have been known for decades. Salt lamps, when turned on and heated, emit negative ions into the atmosphere. Negative ions purify and clean the air by neutralizing allergens, dust, pollen, mold, fungus, pet dander and odors. Negative ions also combat the harmful effects of positive ionization caused by electromagnetic radiation, which originates from TVs, monitors, computers, appliances, Wi-Fi, cell phones, etc. For maximum benefits, leave your salt lamp on as much as possible.
Salt is hygroscopic and will absorb moisture and liquid. Your lamp should not be sprinkled with water or left outdoors. Should your lamp become moistened, simply turn it on and the heat of the bulb will gently dry the lamp thoroughly. When storing your lamp, keep it in a plastic bag or in the box away from moisture. To clean your lamp, take a damp cloth and wipe it down.
We suggest using a 15-watt clear bulb in our lamps, which will provide enough heat for your lamp to give off the negative ions. In order to get the most benefits out of your salt lamp, it should be placed where you spend a lot of time, or perhaps near your electronic devices, and it should be left on as much as possible, but preferably at all times.
If your lamp is not on, it is not acting as an air ionizer and giving off the negative ions. If you place your lamp in your bedroom and the light is distracting at night while sleeping, you may turn your light off before you go to bed, but be sure to turn it back on in the morning so it can work to clean the air and balance the ions all day long.
Note: Salt lamps are handcrafted making each piece unique. Color and shape may vary.
